Obituary of Wallace Lyndon "Lyn" Davenport
DAVENPORT, Wallace Lyndon "Lyn," 55, of Powhatan, passed away April 29, 2016, after a very brave battle with cancer. Lyn was born on January 9, 1961 in Gordonsville, Va., to Doris Talley Davenport and the late Wallace Catesby Davenport. Survivors include his wife, Kelly Atkinson-Davenport; son, Lyndon Harrison Catesby Davenport; mother, Doris Talley Davenport; sister, Deborah L. Davenport and her husband, Antony F. Opperman; sister, Margaret Davenport Evans and her children, Gilbert and Madison; stepchildren, Megan and Tyler Atkinson; two aunts, two uncles and their extended family. Since early childhood, Lyn always had a passion for baseball, hunting, fishing and golf. He was known for his love of the outdoors. The family would like to thank all the wonderful friends and staff at Thomas Johns Cancer Hospital, for their loving support during this difficult time. We would especially like to thank Drs. Lewkow, Eichler and Hey for their loving care. Lyn will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His remains rest at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be 1 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Gordonsville. There will be a reception beginning at 1:30 p.m., at Gordonsville United Methodist Church, 407 N.
