Brenda Sue (Davis) Cottrill, 72, passed away July 17, 2022 at her home in Chesterfield, Virginia, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 31, 1949 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Brenda was the daughter of the late Edsel Marion Davis and Helen Lane (Greathouse) Davis. She was a 1967 graduate of Doddridge County High School.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Orval Cottrill (Junior); son, Larry J. Cottrill and wife Lisa; daughter, Melissa S. Sturm and husband Randy; grandchildren, Dawson Clevenger, Haley (Michael) Robinson, and Justin (Jackie) Sturm; and great grandchildren, Adalynn, Jaxtin, Layton, Jayde, and Grayson. Also surviving are brothers Edsel M. Davis, Jr. and wife Toni of Morehead City, North Carolina, and Richard Michael Davis and wife Patty of Fleming, Ohio. Brenda is also survived by her best friend, Diane Hartley of Parkersburg and her Aunt Lorraine Hill (Nanie) of Lineville, Alabama.
Brenda loved children and worked for the Wood County Board of Education as a supervisory teacher’s aide. She enjoyed crafting, oil painting, tole painting, crocheting, and sewing.
Per her wishes, Brenda will be cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at the Parkersburg Restoration Church located at 801 Mission Drive, Parkersburg, West Virginia on July 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with her son, Elder Larry Cottrill, officiating.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests contributions be made in her memory to Crater Community Hospice of Petersburg, Virginia or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
