Vivian Lucille Weaver Maitland

MAITLAND, Vivian Weaver, age 85, native of Mobile, Ala. and recent resident of The Hermitage in Richmond, Va., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 14, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond Earl and Lucille Foreman Weaver; by her husband, William George Maitland; and son-in-law, Louis James Dontas. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Maitland Dontas (Richmond), Sharon Maitland Moon (Richmond), Lucy Maitland Brown; and son-inlaw, Craig Carlton Brown (Newtown, Pa.); as well as her two granddaughters, Mary Maitland Moon and Lindsey LaTour Moon. Vivian was a 1949 graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile, Ala. and a 1953 graduate of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga. She retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where she enjoyed a nearly 40-year career, working in FBI offices in Mobile as well as in Detroit, Mich. Vivian was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Mobile, Ala., where she served on the vestry, sang in the choir and served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister. In addition, she was a member of the Cathedral Selection Committee for the Diocese and volunteered at Trinity regularly. While in Richmond, she attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Downtown Richmond. With deep gratitude, Vivian’s family would like to thank the entire staff at The Hermitage in Richmond, Va., especially the medical and administrative staff in McGuire Park Memory Care unit and the Red Bud Health Care unit, as well as the chaplains and social workers, all of whom went above and beyond in their care for and support of Vivian and the family. The family also wishes to express deepest appreciation to the compassionate and caring staff of At Home Care Hospice. A memorial service celebrating Vivian’s life will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1900 Dauphin St., Mobile, Ala. 36606, on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 11 a.m.. Memorial donations in Vivian’s honor may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church (Mobile, Ala.), Agnes Scott College (Decatur, Ga.), or to Orchard House School (Richmond, Va.).
