Obituary of Robert Karl Tatlock Sr.
Robert Karl Tatlock Sr., 52 of Amherst, passed away February 15, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Teresa Patton Tatlock. Born December 27, 1960, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Robert S. Tatlock and Doris Hessie Tatlock. Karl graduated from Amherst County High School, in 1979. He has been employed with Wegmann USA since February, 1982. He was a member of Madison Heights Christian Church and attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church, in Amherst. Survivors also include three children, Brittney Tatlock Patton and husband Blayne, of Cleveland, OH, Robert K. Tatlock Jr. and wife Krystal, of Madison Heights, and Kody Wayne Tatlock, of Amherst; his granddaughter, Kaylynn Anne Tatlock; four sisters, Kathy, Karen, Kristen, and Kandace, and their families; one sister-in-law, Sharon, and family; mother and father-in-law, L.C. and Pauline Patton, of Amherst, three nieces, and one nephew. Karl was a diehard UVA and Washington Redskins fan. He served the youth of Amherst County as a coach from 1991-2009, in the following organizations: Amherst County Dixie Softball, Madison Heights Dixie Baseball, Amherst Dixie Baseball, Amherst County Rec. Basketball and Amherst Wolverines Football. Karl served as President of Amherst Wolverines from 2003-2009. Prior to 2003 he held positions of Football Director, and Vice President, for Wolverines. Karl continued to serve as scorekeeper for the Wolverines until 2012. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Elisa Kucia, Dr. Angela Brady, Dr. John Halpin, Centra Hospice Staff and Pearson Cancer Center staff, NICU and Oncology units at LGH for the love and care provided for Karl; brother-in-law, Tom Christian, who provided tremendous compassion and support to Karl and his family through his recent illness. We would also like to thank everyone who supported Karl and us in many, many ways as he fought a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Amherst Athletic Association (Wolverines), P.O. Box 390, Amherst, VA 24521, or to the American Cancer Society, Lynchburg Chapter, 2050 Langhorne Rd., Suite 201, Lynchburg, VA 24501. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8:00 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel, and at other times at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 18, 2012, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, in Amherst, by Pastor Lisa Barbery, and the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
