Ralph David Gilbert

Ralph David Gilbert, age 84 of Amherst, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Allwood on November 13, 1940, son of the late Charles H. Gilbert, Sr. and the late Nannie L. Gilbert. Ralph was a retired farmer and attended New Prospect Baptist Church. He was a true outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and go camping but his true passion was his devotion and love of for his family. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Wanda F. Gilbert; three sons, Ronald D. Gilbert (Missy), Mark H. Gilbert (Angie) and Jeremy O. Gilbert (Christie); a brother, Charles H. Gilbert, Jr.; a sister, Jean Poindexter as well as seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 11:50 am on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at New Prospect Baptist Church where a Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon with Pastor Douglas Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Allwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to New Prospect Baptist Church, 2209 Buffalo Springs Turnpike, Monroe, VA 24574.
