Joann Crews Woody, 91, of Madison Heights, passed away, Thursday, February 9, 2023 at her residence. She was the wife of the late George Lacy "Buddy" Woody, Jr. for 48 years.
Born September 27, 1931 in Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Crews and Isabel Roark Crews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Edward Crews, Jr. and sister, Edith Crews Duffield. Joann was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a member of Amelon U.M. Church.
Joann is survived by two sons, Thomas Woody and wife Sylvia of Monroe and George “Pat” Woody and wife Joan of Elon; two daughters, Pamela Brockman and husband Steen of Amherst, and Kay Creasey and husband David of Atlantic, NC; four sisters, Bettie Carwile of Lovingston, Dot Freeman of Madison Heights, Jean Thorp of Midlothian, and Phyllis Ewers of Madison Heights.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tracy Woody of Madison Heights, Beth Hart (Ryan) of Pawleys Island, SC, Cabell Brockman (Kathryn) of Birmingham, AL, Kristin Brockman of Amherst, Chris Woody (Angela) of Monroe, Sarah Nichols (Jason) of Amherst, Shelley Query (Heath) of Madison Heights, and Tiffany Miller (JT) of Monroe; twenty-two great grandchildren, Mason Heisler (Sydney), Wyatt Heisler, Noah Heisler (Molly), Breanna Wilson, Reed Jordan, Aiden Query, Alaina Query, Colton Query, Ella Lewis, Emily Lewis, Madilynn Nichols, Chayse Addair, Michael Mozingo, Garnet, Delilah, and Auburn Woody, Tucker Hart, Connor Hart, Scarlett Brockman, Sloane Brockman, Lucie Brockman, Lillian Miller, Lacey Miller, and Cole Miller and two great-great-grandchildren, Declan Farlow and Beckett Heisler.
A memorial service to celebrate Joann’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Amelon U.M. Church with Pastor Dave Edinger officiating. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
