Verna Ball Price

Verna Ball Price, 89, of Lynchburg passed away Monday, April 24, 2017, at her residence. She was the wife of 67 years to James Albert Price, Jr. Born March 22, 1928, in Horsepen, she was the daughter of the late John George Ball and the late Mary Marrs Ball. Verna was a retired X-ray technician for 30 years at the Lynchburg Health Department, and a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church. She had a gentle, kind and generous spirit and loved her husband, son and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Scott Price; and two sisters, Flora B. Bledsoe and Thelma B. Welch. In addition to her husband, Verna is survived by a son, J. Stephen Price and Suzanne of Rustburg; two siblings, John Ball and Byna of Bishop and Alice B. Dye of Bluefield; two grandsons, Stephen Price and Blair of Davidson, NC and Eric Price and Allison of Spout Spring; one great granddaughter, Carleigh Ann Price; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 28, 2017, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Westview Cemetery, 723 E. Roanoke St., Blacksburg, VA, 24060. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
