Roy Herbert Smith Jr.
March 5, 1934 – September 8, 2020

Roy Herbert Smith Jr., age 86 of Rustburg, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 surrounded by his twin daughters.
Born March 5, 1934 in the city of Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Roy Herbert Sr. and Amanda Henson Smith.
He was married to his wife, the late Betty Jane Smith, for 27 years. He was also proceeded by his brother, Wayne Smith and sister, Margaret Graham.
He was a member of Leawood Baptist Church in Lynchburg and a believer in Jesus Christ our Savior. Mr. Smith retired from Moore’s Trucking Co. in 1994 where his passion of driving a “big rig” was never forgotten. He also worked for many years at Westover Dairy driving a milk truck. He will be remembered for being a loving father, papa, brother, veteran, and friend and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Mr.Smith is survived by three daughters; Teresa Woods and husband Roger of Gladys, Lisa Cox and husband DJ of Big Island, and Debby Stephens and husband Steve of Lynchburg, as well as two step- sons David Bohannon and wife Linda of Syracuse NY, Ray Nichols Jr and wife Vicki of Huddleston; and one step daughter Deborah Johnston and husband Tom of Beach City, TX. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; Rindy Bregrande, Eric Bohannon, Brooke Dixon, Ryan Johnston, Brandon Nichols, Amanda Nichols, Allyson Woods, Kaylin Cox, Donnie Cox, Hannah White, Haley Woods, Aaron Cox and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Smith also had two special nephews who were just like sons; Richard and Keith Tolbert. His brother, Charles Smith and wife Bettie are survived by Roy along with a multitude of special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Friday, Sept 11 at the Fort Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Military honors will be rendered by Lynchburg American Legion Post #16. Roy will be laid to rest with his late wife, Betty, as Smokey Wilson rejoices in song to celebrate Mr. Smith’s homecoming to the Promise Land.
