Robert Tucker Lewis, Jr., 81, of Lynchburg, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
Born on August 28, 1943 in Georgia, he was the son of the late Robert Tucker Lewis, Sr. and Ann Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Samantha Tyree.
Tucker was a Logger and a Lineman by trade. He retired from C & P Telephone Company and went into business for himself in the logging industry. He loved working on logging equipment and enjoyed drag racing in his younger years. Most of all he enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as “Papa Tuck”.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene M. Lewis; daughter, Laurie L. Tyree; stepchildren, Roxanne Cobb (Mike), Mary A. Mullen (Mike) and James Knight; sister, Judith Gillespie (Bob); granddaughter, Sidney Sprouse (Peyton); and 12 great grandchildren.
A graveside service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
