Peggy Esther Neighbors St. John

Peggy Esther Neighbors St. John, 77, of Lynchburg, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 21, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Robert W. St. John. Born on October 2, 1941 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Albert E. Neighbors, Sr. and the late Mollie Shields Neighbors. Peggy retired from Verizon and was a faithful and active member of Faith Baptist Church in Rustburg. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Peggy enjoyed flowers and birds and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Evans; siblings, Gene Neighbors, Shirley Strickland, Frances Arthur, and Carolyn Layne; and brother-in-law, Thomas Harvey. Peggy is survived by her children, Tonya R. Kidd and husband Michael of Evington, David A. Roberts, Jr. and wife Cindy of Lynchburg, Dana R. Thompson and husband Kevin of Wilmington, NC, Angela R. Hicks and husband Robert of Jacksonville, FL, Randy W. St. John and wife Yvonne of Evington, and Kimberly R. Drewry and husband Frank of Windsor, VA; 21 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; siblings, Elsie Harvey of Lynchburg, Albert Neighbors, Jr. and wife Eunice of Rustburg, Joann Austin and husband Cecil of Lynchburg, Jimmy Neighbors and wife BJ of Gladys, and Mike Neighbors and wife Donna of Lynchburg; brother-in-law, Randolph Arthur; sister-in-law, Margaret Neighbors; and numerous other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Dr. Lee Dittman officiating. Interment will follow at the Arthur/Neighbors Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 968 Village Hwy, Rustburg, VA 24588.
