Maxwell “Mack” Delano Howard, 81, of Lynchburg, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Tate Springs Health and Rehab.
Born on September 2, 1942 in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. Howard and Mary L. Howard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James A. Howard, Roger F. Howard, Benjamin F. Howard, Edward O’Dell Howard; one sister, Audrey M. Howard; and a nephew Justin S. Howard.
Mack was an avid animal lover, especially his cats. He always had cats in his life (indoor and outdoor) and loved to spend time with them. He loved music, especially country music. He enjoyed watching Western movies and was an avid coffee lover although he’d only drink Maxwell House. Mack was very artistic and over the years painted and sketched hundreds of objects. He loved to make others laugh and had the reputation of being a jokester. His great sense of humor will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his one brother, Robert Jackson “Jack” Howard; a loving and devoted sister-in-law Sybil Nicely; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park officiated by Pastor Lee Cannon.
A memorial service celebrating Mack’s life will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Fort Avenue Church of Christ also officiated by Pastor Lee Cannon.
