Obituary of Carolyn Wheeler Creed
Carolyn Wheeler Creed, 70, of Forest, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Medical Care Center after her long struggle with Myasthenia Gravis. Born on March 9, 1944 in Newport News, she was the daughter of the late Everett Lee Wheeler and Virginia Pearson Wheeler. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Robert James Creed and a brother, Everett “Eddie” Pearson Wheeler. Carolyn has been a faithful member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church since she was 13 years old. Over the years she held many offices in the church. She was a founding member of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class, loved music, and was a devoted choir member for nearly 50 years. Her interests included gardening, cooking, decorating, being at Timberlake, and spending time with her family and friends. If you ever tasted her chocolate pie or award winning chocolate covered cherries, you know what an excellent cook she was. She was a wonderful, loving, and kind mother and grandmother. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Gary Creed and his wife Polly of Denver, NC and Wendy Creed Meese and her husband Greg of Lynchburg; her grandchildren, Adam Creed, Elliott Creed, Amanda Meese, Evan Meese, and Justin Creed; her sister, Barbara Wheeler Beck and her husband Bill; her brother, James Wheeler and his wife Liz; her nieces and nephews, Chris, James, Jacob, Sarah, and Cynthia; and numerous cousins and extended family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Medical Care Center for their love and support during Carolyn’s stay. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 5 to 7 pm at Fort Hill United Methodist Church, 106 Oakridge Blvd, Lynchburg, VA 24502. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 1 pm at Fort Hill United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
