Barbara Ann Knecht

Barbara Ann Knecht, 79, of Chesapeake, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Born on March 10, 1944, in McMinnville, Oregon, Barbara was the daughter of the late Robert Allen Brooks and the late Dorothy Ferris Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband Karl F. Knecht and a brother, Craig George. Barbara was a passionate woodworker. She had an amazing talent working with wood and created many unique pieces of art out of different species of wood. She also had a love for gardening and riding motorcycles, in addition to spending time with family. She will be greatly missed. Barbara is survived by two daughters, Brenda K. Davis (Tracy) and Karen A. Woudenberg (Bob); three siblings, Sandra Henry (Ron), Carol Vaughn, and Steve George; six grandchildren, Joshua LaFrance (Sarah), Jeremiah LaFrance, Jacob LaFrance (Laura), Sarah Mallow (Mike), Connor Olson, Ryan Olson (Anna). She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Virginia Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made to the Salvation Army, 2215 Park Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, POB 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
