Obituary of Harold William Paddock
Harold W. Paddock, 81, of Liberty died Friday evening, March 11, 2016, at the Whitewater Commons Senior Living in Liberty. Harold was born in Preble County, Ohio, on May 9, 1934, to Lawrence J. and Glenna L. Dobbs Paddock. He was a 1952 graduate of Brownsville High School and entered the U.S Army on January 18, 1954, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksmanship, and Mechanics Badge. Harold married Norma Fields in Jellico, TN on June 21, 1972. He was employed as a truck driver and drove for Oxford Laundry. Harold built fences all over Union County with his father and became known as the “Fence Man” after his father died. After a debilitating stroke in which doctors said he would never talk or walk again, Harold drove with Norma to every state except Alaska and Hawaii. He enjoyed riding his scooter all over town purposely to wave at his friends. Harold loved driving to old Country Star Concerts especially to George Jones, his favorite. He was a member of American Legion Post # 122 in Liberty. Harold is survived by his wife Norma; two daughters: Yvonne Baker of Connersville, and Ginger Dearth of Liberty; five sons: Everett Paddock and wife Lynda of West College Corner, Harold D. “Wayne” Paddock of Liberty, David E. McQueen of Gautier, Mississippi, and Sammy K. McQueen of Richmond, Herbert J. McQueen of Connersville; a brother David Paddock of Liberty; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Shorty and Norman Paddock; and two sisters: Rosemary Otto and Gladys Thibaut. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15th at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty. Interment with military honors will follow in Union Cemetery Garden of Memories in Fayette County. Friends may visit the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans Transport or to the funeral home on behalf of the family for expenses.
