Virginia Mina Mumaw

The family of Virginia M. Mumaw announces her passing on October 17, 2022 at the age of 83. She was born in Kokomo on September 12, 1939 to Ira and Catherine (Brooker) Whitacre. She married David A. Mumaw on September 28, 1963. He preceded her in death on 2019. Virginia grew up and attended school in Kokomo. In the 50’s she was a car hop at Ray’s Drive In, worked at Delco for almost 10 years, became a homemaker & later worked at Astro Bowl. She bowled in several local leagues and earning to compete in state and national tournaments. She coached and was secretary in youth bowling programs. “Mom was one in a million, if you know you know”. Virginia is survived by her children Mymia "Cathy" (Doug) Warren, Leland (Inky) Mumaw, Mina (Dennis) Millikan, David A. (Beth) Mumaw II, all of Kokomo; siblings John (Betty) Whitacre of Bandera, TX, Clarence “Butch” Whitacre of Kokomo, William (Bill) Whitacre of Big Run, PA; Dennis (Karen) Whitacre of Anderson, IN, Rose Marie (Chuck) Berry Peru, IN; grandchildren Elishia Reed, Joshua Hughes, Dustin Gaskins, Olivia (Josh) Radabaugh, Jerry (Tina) Hurlock, Jason (Beth) Hurlock, Ashley (Phil) Deck, Amber (Grant) Cooper, Leland "Bubba" (Megan) Mumaw II, Mallorey (Andrew) Jeter, Alexandria (Tyler) Carden, Madelyn (Jake) Nelson, MaryBeth (Austin) McQuiston, David A. "Davey" Mumaw III, Magnolia “Jerek aka Derek” (Kelsi) Dockery, Abbey (Seth aka Steth) Walker, and Alexis, Tori and Jaden; also 46 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren, two on the way and several nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband David; grandson Justin Hurlock; sister Connie Stevenson & Infant brother Rex Allen. Visitation for Virginia will be Saturday October 22, 2022 12:00pm – 3:00pm with funeral service starting at 3:00pm at Ellers Mortuary 3400 S. Webster St. Kokomo. Minster Phil Deck will officiate.
