Obituary of Stephen F. Lushin
Steve went to be with the Lord at 4:06am on December 23, 2021, at Community Howard Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana. Steve was born to the late Paul Kosta Lushin, an immigrant from Macedonia who settled in Kokomo in 1926, and the late Mary Helen (Tate) Lushin from Russiaville, IN. Steve married Connie (Schossow) Lushin-Williams from 1963 to 2011. Steve and Connie had three children, Mike Lushin (Lisa) Grand Blanc, MI., Debbie McKinley (Jim) Kokomo, IN., and Phil Lushin (Yasemin) Kissimmee, FL. He has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Steve is survived by his sister, Diane (Lushin) Hoffman, Bloomington, IL. He is preceded in death by his sister, Francis Mellott, and two brothers, Jean Lushin & Dan Lushin. He later went on to marry Helen Olson in 2019. She preceded him in death in that same year. Steve worked as a USPS delivery person in the early 1960s. He later went on to work at Reed Tool & Die gaining an apprenticeship and moving on to employment at Delco Electronics, where he retired as a supervisor for the tool & die shop. He also played softball for years on the Delco league team. Upon retirement he opened Steve’s Handyman Service. Steve was a longstanding member of Main Street United Methodist Church where he taught adult Bible study and led the youth group for many years. He also performed in the community Easter pageants. He joined the Smile Maker Clown Ministry using the name, “Hansum.” This ministry took him to mission trips in Africa, Russia, local destinations and parades. He brought smiles to children’s faces. Steve’s younger years saw him as an avid camper, fisher, hiker, and canoer. Steve loved to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, CAM, Urban Outreach, and shut-ins who needed some company, construction and conversation. He was a member of K.O.F.F. (Kids Over Fifty-Five) and The Senior Citizen Center. He loved, loved, loved playing Euchre, Hand & Foot, and Bingo with his friends and family. This is where Steve met his beloved and devoted girlfriend, Brenda Edmonds. Friends are invited to join the family from 10am to 12pm on Thursday, December 30th, at Eller’s Mortuary & Cremation Center Webster Chapel; 3400 South Webster Street.
