Roy Lee Taylor

Roy Taylor, 73, of Kokomo passed away quietly at his residence on the evening of July 4th, 2022. He was born to Joseph and Sara Edna Taylor in Rockholds of Whitley County, Kentucky. The family moved to the town of Center in the Kokomo, Indiana, Howard County area while Roy was still a boy. Roy grew up in Center and remained in the area throughout his lifetime; he graduated from Kokomo High School; he served our country in the Armed Forces and was honorably discharged as a Corporal from the United States Marine Corps; he worked alongside several family members and friends at Continental Steel until its closure; and he was a Chrysler retiree. Roy’s word was his bond and his honor beyond measure. Roy loved his family and friends. He was highly respected in the skilled trades as a certified welder and took pride in his positions as Rigger and Millwright. He also loved his horses and dogs; he loved spending his time caring for them; and he especially enjoyed trail riding. Roy is survived by his sister and brother, Christine Bailey of Kokomo and Henry (Hank) Taylor of Henryville, Indiana; his children and grandchildren; his nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding him in passing were his parents; two brothers, Pat and Raymond Taylor; and three sisters, Mary Rachael Taylor, Lillian Taylor, and Edith Archer Thieke. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, July 12th from 1-3:30pm at Ellers Mortuary on 3400 S Webster Street in Kokomo, Indiana. A graveside service at the Young Cemetery in Williamsburg, Kentucky will follow at a later date.
