John Frederick Hunt II

John Frederick Hunt II, 65, of Kokomo passed away at 1:24 AM Thursday August 15, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo. Born July 14, 1954 in Kokomo, he was the son of the late John Frederick Hunt I and Wilma (Fye) Hunt. He was a 1973 graduate of Kokomo High School. On June 8, 1974 in Kokomo, he married Lucy J. (Miller), and she survives. He was employed at Haynes International for 35 years as a cutter; also in inspection, retiring in 2007. He served on the committee of the Steel Workers Union Local #2958 for 20 years. He taught martial arts and was a Grand Master 8th Degree Black Belt; receiving it from Grand Master Robert Earleywine. He served two terms on the Democratic Party of the Howard County Labor Board and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was very dedicated to God and his church.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Lucy J. Hunt of Kokomo; two sons James (Brandy) Hunt and John Frederick Hunt III, both of Kokomo; three sisters Linda (Basil) Thompson and Cynthia Kline, both of Kokomo and Theresa (Roger) Mordock of Dexter, Kentucky; one grandchild Austin Erb Hunt and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Patricia Harris and Nancy Cottingham.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Tuesday August 20, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1204 N. Armstrong Street, Kokomo, Indiana. Reverend Father Brian Dudzinski will celebrate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Monday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 South Main Street, Kokomo; also from 10 AM to 11 AM Tuesday at the church. There will be a scripture service Monday at 7:30 PM at Ellers Mortuary. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
