Donald Roy Davis

Donald R. Davis, 63 of Kokomo passed away on August 12, 2019. Mr. Davis was born on June 26, 1956 in Corinth, Mississippi to Sam Luster and Vernita (Davis) Poe. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, Mr. Davis served his country in the United States Army, and even served a tour of the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea. After his tour in the service, Mr. Davis spent the next thirty-two years working at Kokomo Transmission (Chrysler), where he was a member of the UAW Local 685. In his spare time, Mr. Davis loved to fish, watch sports, visit casinos and travel. Mr. Davis was very fond of the Golden State Warriors basketball team.
Mr. Davis is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Gwendolyn Davis; mother, Vernita Poe; children: Lashonda (Shaun Seagraves) Davis, Shaneika (Kareen) Dunn, Anthony and Reginald Pugh; godson, Anthony (Shelby) Harris; brothers: Reginald Crawford and Marvin (Peggy) Poe, brother -in -law Jesse Pugh, Jr. ; grandchildren: Micah Keller, Shalyn Davis, Ja’Nyiah Rogers and JeShaun Rogers; special cousin, Jean Mabry; a host of many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his daughter, Lanecia Dixon, father, Sam Luster and brother, Jerry Luster, Jr; father-in-law Jesse Pugh and mother-in-law Willie Mae Pugh.
A celebration of life will be held for Mr. Davis on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 West Alto Rd. Entombment will follow the funeral. Military honors will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service Saturday, August 24th at the funeral home.
