Ann Shaneyfelt

Ann Shaneyfelt, 84, of Kokomo, Indiana danced her way home on December 28, 2022. She was born May 31, 1938 in Keckovce, Czechoslovakia to the late Michael and Mary (Mikita) Milas. She came to the US at the young age of 8 after World War II with her non-English speaking parents. She was forced to mature and make a lot of decisions on behalf of her parents, being in a new country and not knowing anyone. Ann had a meaningful interaction with Mayor Daley in Chicago when her father was placed in a non-reputable VA hospital. She marched right up to him and explained her concerns, in which he sent one of his bodyguards to the hospital to have her father transferred into better care. She overcame a lot of hardship, and it helped shape her into a strong woman. She spent her young adulthood in Chicago, there she met Robert Shaneyfelt dancing in a ballroom. They started a family in Chicago and eventually moved to Kokomo in the late 60's. She and Robert became business partners, managing apartment complexes and owning their own Tool and Die company on the north side of Kokomo. She enjoyed traveling in her younger years, and she also developed a passion for gardening. She could never know a stranger, as she loved to talk to everyone. Ann is survived by her children Robert (Cheryl) Shaneyfelt, Susan Skelton, James Shaneyfelt, John Shaneyfelt; grandchildren Jason Skelton, Jessica Skelton, Brendon Shaneyfelt, Dominic Shaneyfelt; great granddaughter Ellie Ray Dowden; brother John (Emily) Milas; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2019. A visitation for Ann will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 12:30 PM at Albright Cemetery, 3910 Albright Rd, Kokomo, Indiana 46902.
