William Leon Hill

William was born in Chillicothe, Ohio and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1947. He met his future wife, Catherine at a YWCA dance. William was married to Catherine Hill on August 7, 1949 at Second Baptist Church. They were married for 69 years. From that marriage together, they had nine children. He was a faithful member of St. Peter and Paul Cathedral. During his membership with St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, he was a member of Knights of St.Peter Claver. He was also a member of the Crispus Attucks Alumni Association and Riverside Civic League. William was a dedicated husband and loving father to his nine children. William worked for Eli Lilly for over 30 years and retired in 1990. Along with his job at Eli Lilly he worked two part-time jobs to make sure his children went on family vacations, attended Catholic schools and summer camps. William was a Christian and always made sure his family was taken care of. William loved to travel. He was able to visit Greece, Japan and Hawaii to name a few of the locations he visited. He also traveled across the United States. Together with Crispus Attucks alumni, William was able to set sail on many cruises to exotic locations. He also enjoyed sports, especially watching his children and grandchildren play on recreational and league teams. William was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Hill, and siblings Norma (Lewis) Smith, Mary Howard, Christina (Garrett) Duncan, Hobart (Sheila) Austin, Harold (Donna) Austin, Russell Austin, Chester (Donna) Austin. He leaves to cherish his life, his children Larry (Chae) Hill, Darrell (Melodie) Hill, Elaine Johnson, Brian (Pam) Hill, Adelle Stokes, Randall (Martiea) Hill, David (Jacqueline) Hill, Paula Bynm and Eric Hill. His siblings Nedra (Dana) Valentine, Lovada Cousins, and Lucille Lee. His 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. William was loved by his family and will be missed, but he is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Well done, your job is complete, you have earned your rest.
