Thomas F Dailey

Thomas F. Dailey passed away on June 7, 2024 at the age of 77. Tom was born in Indianapolis on July 5, 1946 to Fred and Alice (Round) Dailey. A life-long East side resident, Tom graduated from Latin school and was inducted in the United States Marine Corps in August 1966, serving as an Infantryman with the Marine Division and was twice awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Vietnam. Returning to Indianapolis after his service, He met and married his first wife, Krilla Ann Sims on July 19, 1969. Together they raised three sons in Irvington. Tom was a proud police officer for IPD for over 20 years, retiring in Feb. 1989. Tom lost Krilla to a sudden illness on June 26, 1991. Through a widower’s group he was introduced to Sharon Riffert ( from Vincennes) and they married February 13, 1993. He subsequently worked as a security guard for Indianapolis Power and Light at their Harding St. and Shadeland Ave. stations for more than a decade. Still maintaining an active work ethic, Tom supported the law office clerk for Cline, Farrell, Christie and Lee as a clerk and courier until late 2021. He loved baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, enjoyed DIY projects around the house and spent a great deal of time and energy researching, recording and graphing the Dailey and Sims family genealogy. Tom was preceded in death by his mother and father and three sisters, Jeanne, Janet and Therese and nephew Michael McGreevy. Tom is survived by his wife Sharon Riffert Dailey, sons Tim, Joe (Dawn) and Kevin, step son Jeremy Riffert, his only niece Kathy McGreevy, and grandchildren Kyle, Erin and Sam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Sisters of Saint Francis in Oldenburg, IN. A visitation for Thomas will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219. A funeral mass will occur Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 5333 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219.
