Samuel A. Herrera
82, of Indianapolis, passed away September 19, 2010. He was born September 14, 1928 in Huntington Park, California, the son of Nicholas N. and Maria (Avila) Herrera. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Detroit for 5 years and Indianapolis for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharist minister. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Marguerite Morales Herrera, children, Melva (Eleazar) Reyes, Samuel Herrera Jr., Margie (Richard Lay) Herrera-Lay, sisters Aurora, Victoria, Anita, Blanca , brothers Nicholas, Moses, Eziquel, Rogelio, grandchildren Ricky (Janet) Butler, Jose` (Carolina) Butler, Mario Herrera, Samuel D.(Cinthia) Herrera, Lauren Lay, great grandchildren, Ryan Butler, Kaylee Butler, Saori Herrera, Jose` Butler Jr.. Funeral services will be Friday September 24 at 9:30 AM at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church 550 N. Rural St. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday September 23 2010 from 2 – 8 PM at the mortuary. Memorial contributions in Samuel’s name may be made to St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, Alzheimer’s Association, American, or National Kidney Foundation.
