Ruth V Hawkins

Ruth V. Hawkins was born April 8, 1922 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late James C. Hawkins Sr. and Sarah (Hawkens) Hawkins. Ruth's siblings included 6 brothers; William, James Jr.; George; Richard, Jerry and John; 5 sisters; Marie, Sarah, Kathryn; Rosalee and Mary. Ruth became a Christian as a child and was a member of St John AME Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher for many years at St John, as well as other churches. In her early years, she also led a Boy Scouts Group. Ruth was a talker and could spend hours talking as long as she had a listening ear. She loved to talk about the Lord and was well versed in scripture. She also loved to read. Ruth married and gave birth to two sons, Guy L. Hubbard Jr. and Donald (Valerie) Hubbard; one daughter Gwendolyn Eileen Hubbard Parrish. Among Ruth's places of employment were the elementary school system of Columbus, Ohio and Fort Benjamin Harrison Ruth was called from labor to reward on Sunday December 1, 2019. She leaves to cherish her memory her three children; her daughter-in-law Valerie; two brothers William (Laura) and Jerry Hawkins; one sister; Mary Johnson; five grandchildren; Katja Fletcher-Donald and Sherrice Slack as well as William (Michelle), Prentice (Tanisha) and Donita (Paul Debono) Parrish. Ruth also had 13 great grandchildren and many other friends and family.
