Ricky Dewayne Thomas (Slick) was born on May 26, 1963 to Myra Moody in Evansville, Indiana. He passed away surrounded by his loved ones on May 26, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital.
Ricky gave his life to the Lord at a young age at Liberty Baptist Church in Evansville, Indiana. He graduated from North High School in 1980.
Slick Rick, as he was known, lived a life full of love and laughter. He brought joy to those around him and never knew a stranger. Slick was passionate about music and there was not a song that he did not know the history of.
If you knew Slick, you knew his favorite NFL team is the New England Patriots and wore their fangear on his person daily. And who could forget his love for trying his luck at the racetrack with his horses? Slick loved his family, especially his grandkids. He loved making videos with Kourtney dressed in his Patriots gear, having bacon with BJ for breakfast, and calling the girls and saying “Papaw love you, do he.”
Ricky gave everyone a nickname, talked loud, and made it his task to make everyone laugh and smile.
Ricky was proceeded in death by his stepfather, his Pops, William Moody and two brothers, George and Christopher Jones.
Ricky leaves behind to cherish fond memories his wife, Sonja; son, Brandon Thomas (Keisha) of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, JaNece (Curtis) Hockersmith of Bowling Green, KY; grandchildren: Kourtney, Brandon Jr., Caydence, Camri, and Callie; mother, Myra Moody of Evansville, IN; sisters: Chiquita (Larry) Armstead, Emily (Randall) Lander, Nanette (Harvey) Lewis, Carlette Moody; brothers: Jerome (Bonita) Jones and Edward Moody all of Evansville, Indiana as well as host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Special thanks to Ascension St.Vincent’s ICU Unit.
