Obituary of Richard Potosnak
Richard “Rich” “Potsy” Potosnak, 59, of Indianapolis, departed this life at his home on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Rich was born in Monaca, Pennsylvania to the late Richard & Doris (Verban) Potosnak. He grew up and attended schools in Monaca, PA. Rich then earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree and then a Master’s of Business Administration degree from Arizona State University. Rich was an architect working with various airlines and airports throughout his early career. He became owner and president of TC&M, the owner's representative, in Indianapolis for the new Indianapolis airport which opened in 2008. He also worked in Guam to revitalize the island. Most recently he served as the Director of Facilities and Real Estate for MacAllister. He was a kind and gentle soul who exemplified his simple belief that faith, family and education were key to a happy and successful life. He loved all things “Pittsburgh” and always kept track of his Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. Rich loved the outdoors and played lots of golf, he loved being on a beach, trips to the horse track and road cycling. Rich also enjoyed working in his garden, travelling to new places both domestic and internationally. Rich was happiest though making memories with his family and friends. He was an accomplished cook and loved hosting and cooking for his family and friends. His “Sunday Suppers” kept relationships strong and bellies full. He was a certified “EggHead” and never passed on a slice of Key Lime pie. Rich was a longtime and dedicated member of St. Luke Catholic Church, Legatus Indianapolis and Broadmoor Country Club where he served on the board of directors and was also involved with the men’s league. Rich is survived by his wife, Kimberly Potosnak; children, Olivia Hempleman and Paul Potosnak; sisters, Juli Williams, Mari Ann (James) Miller and Mari Beth (Dean) Sylvester; nieces and nephews, Brian, Megan, Kristin, Carla, Lori and Victoria; his dear friend Mark Halteman in Turks & Caicos; his beloved pugs, Bean & Stella and a host of grateful friends, work associates and Burgh’ brothers and sisters… In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his sister, Lori Sue Potosnak. Visitation for Rich will be from 4 – 7 pm on Wednesday, July 19th at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel. Additional visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 20th at St. Luke Catholic Church and conclude at time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am. Interment follows at Crown Hill Cemetery. A luncheon will be at Broadmoor Country Club 2155 Kessler Blvd. W. Dr. Indianapolis, IN 46228 following interment.
