Richard Allen Brown
September 10, 1942 – May 21, 2023

Richard Brown was born on Sept. 10, 1942, in Pulaski Tennessee. He attended school in Elkton, Tennessee and later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. He married Luetta Gardner in 1968 who preceded him in death. To this Union, two children were born, and he reared two bonus children. Richard was not only a devoted father but also an executive chef that retired from the Marriott Hotel after 42 years of service in the Hospitality industry.
Two of his favorite Hobbies included fishing and hunting. When he wasn’t gaming with his children He travelled to numerous states with his buddies in pursuit of his hobbies. He would constantly bring home fish and wild game that he caught and prepared for his family. Richard not only fed his family, but he would also invite the neighbors to share in these feasts.
Richard departed this life on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the age of 80 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jimmie and Gassimble Brown, Wife: Luetta Brown, Brothers: George, Wilbur, Walter, Anthony, and Edward Brown. Deceased Sisters: Hovestina, Hannah, Ida, Lois, and Mary.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory, Son: Jerry Franklin, Daughters: Charlotte Greene, Vickie (Paul) Matthews and Tina Brown (Bobby Slater). Sister in laws: Mary, Cecilia and Wanda Brown. Bernice & Betty Gardner. Grandchildren: Courtney (Erica) Turner, Tianna Franklin, Donielle (Ben) Oakes, Tiffany (Joe) Hogan, Pierre Jr. (Hayley) Turner, Andre McKenzie, India (Adam) Johnson. And a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Richard shared a special bond with his niece - Vernice Clemons that was raised with him like a sister.
A visitation for Richard will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM.
