Obituary of R. Duane Henry
R. Duane Henry, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Born in Indianapolis on August 13, 1944, Duane was the son of the late Wayne and Freda Henry. Duane was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School. On August 17, 1964, he accepted a job as a salesman at Printer’s Supply of Indiana. The rush of his first big sale led to a 46-year career where he eventually became President and co-owner. During this time, he found his calling, not as a salesman, but as a leader. In his early years he had brushes with “fame” landing jobs with a modeling agency and signing a record deal in Nashville. Throughout his life Duane immersed himself in many hobbies including singing with his band the Impacts, waterskiing, hang gliding, participating in car shows, singing with his many barbershop friends, as well giving nicknames to things, animals, friends, and family. Anything Duane did, he gave his all; a trait instilled in him by his parents. His dedication is evident by the numerous awards and honors that he received, but also by the impact he made on everyone he came across. Duane is survived by his loving partner of 35 years, Micci Richardson; children, Lara “Mitch” (James) Dufault, Steven “Hot Dog” (Angela) Henry; grandchildren, Alana “Einstein” (David) Thompson, Lauren “Lizzie” (Solomon) Stine, Madison “Florence” Haag, Evan “Playboy” Haag, Hannah Dufault, Victoria Dufault; and great-granddaughter, Lilli Dufault. Duane is preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Wright; son, David Henry; and his children’s mother, Sue Henry. Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Duane Henry during visitation from 10:00 to 1:00 on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 700 W. 38th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208.
