Michael Larry Roy

Michael Larry Roy, age 80, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023. Michael was born March 22, 1943 to Lloyd and Thelma Kennedy Roy. He graduated from Kansas State University and Purdue University in Indianapolis. He served two years active duty as a Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve. He moved and took a job with Eli Lilly as a Chemist and stayed there for 26 years. While at Eli Lilly, he authored or co-authored over 20 papers in the area of freeze drying. He was a regional Dart Champion and a member of the White River Yacht Club for many years. Michael loved international travel with his late wife and love of his life to Australia, China, Russia, the Caribbean, and most of Europe, often by river boat. Michael is survived by his children, Robert (Meghan Schmidt) Roy and Leah (Colin) Roy-Ehri; stepdaughter, Sheri (Michael) Alexander; grandchildren, Riva and Orion Roy-Ehri; step grandchild, Ashley (Jason) Clarkson; step great grandchildren, Clara and Carter Clarkson; sisters, Linda (Chuck) Pullen and Shannon Roy; and mother of his children, Barbara Roy. Michael is also survived by his companion, Diane Danzl. Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ryan Roy; step son, Clayton James Ryan; and parents, Lloyd and Thelma Kennedy Roy. A memorial visitation for Michael will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Feeney Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220. A memorial toast will take place at 5:30 PM.
