Michael Darrin Gray Sr.

Michael Darrin Gray Sr. of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Monday, July 17th, 2023 at I.U. Health Hospice after a long illness. Michael was brought into this world by James A. and Barbara (Trice) Gray on December 30th, 1965. Michael was a graduate of Thomas Carr Howe High School (Class of ‘83) and attended the auto repair magnet program at Arsenal Technical High School. In the 80’s and 90’s he was employed as a security guard with Burns Security and in the 2000’s Michael worked as a forklift/warehouse worker with Hinkley Springs. Michael’s true passion, however, resided in his love of music. Michael dreamed of being a singer songwriter and loved music so much that he used one of his first paychecks to purchase an upright piano on which he taught himself to play. Michael Darrin Gray Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Barbara (Trice) Gray, and his brother, Paul Gray. Left to cherish his memory is his partner, Millie Ervin; their three children, Michael Jr., Tyra, and Angelina Gray; his sisters, Sheila Anderson, Michelle Embry, and Tracey Gray-Reed; three grandchildren, Ka’Tyra, Ki’Sean, and Jay’Sean; four nieces, five nephews, one great niece, two great nephews; his paternal aunt, Tecora Blackshear, and a loving legion of cousins and friends. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. A visitation for Michael will be held Friday, July 28, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
