Jesse Wheeler

Elder Jesse Wheeler, age 94 of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on November 17, 2021.
Elder Wheeler was born in Hazard, Kentucky to the late James and Gertrude Wheeler. Elder Jesse Wheeler was the third child of twelve siblings.
Elder Wheeler accepted Christ at a young age. He became a minister in the Church of God at the age of 31. He later went on to become an ordained minister in the Church of God in Christ and was the Pastor of the Wheeler's Temple Church of God in Christ for over 30 years.
Elder Wheeler met and fell in love with his late wife, Mrs. Inell Wheeler at a Church of God in Christ convention in Dayton, Ohio. The two married in January of 1955 and were married for over 65 years. To this union, four daughters were born, Mary Jean Bullock, Peggy Bussey, Betty Majors and Pamela Poore.
Elder Wheeler served both God and man. He was a World War II veteran. He served in the United States army for over five years. Elder Wheeler went on to work for the United States Railroad for 30 years. He retired from the United States Railroad in 1987.
Elder Jesse Wheeler was loved and respected by all who knew him. His favorite phrase when he was asked how he was doing was always, "I am doing fine, just like I look!" He later became known to those that knew him as, "Mr. Fine and Beautiful." Elder Wheeler always offered a word of prayer to those who knew him. He and his late wife, Mother Inell Wheeler, were known as prayer warriors.
Elder Jesse Wheeler is preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and James Wheeler, his wife Inell Wheeler, five sisters, Helen, Willie Mae, Emma, Susie and Pauline and five brothers, James, Marion, Charles, Clyde and George Wheeler.
Elder Wheeler leaves to cherish his memories, his only living sibling, Claudine Stewart, his four daughters and son in law, Mary Bullock, Peggy Bussey, Betty Majors and Pamela Poore (James Poore II), and friend and caregiver, Charles Hallis. He also leaves seven grandchildren and their spouses to cherish his memories, Steven Hunter Jr, Christopher Majors (Jenny Majors), Nichole Louis (Michael Louis), Crystal Williams (Tony Williams), Candace Swanigan (Damon Swanigan), James Poore Ill, Bailee Poore and Kyndal Poore. In addition, there are twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends, that he leaves to cherish his memory.
Elder Wheeler, "Mr. Fine and Beautiful" will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we know that he is in heaven with the Lord.
