Obituary of Hortensia Irene Aparicio
On Tuesday, May 18th, 2021, Hortensia Irene (Chacon) Aparicio, loving wife, mother of three children, and grandmother, passed away at age 66. Hortensia (Irene) was born on July 30th, 1954 in Guatemala City, Guatemala to Sixto and Tomasa Chacon. On February 12th, 1972, she married Luis Rafael Aparicio. They raised one son, Luis, and two daughters, Ingrid and Evelin. Hortensia was a skilled seamstress that loved to make custom clothing for her family and crochet beautiful outfits or blankets for her beloved grandchildren. Hortensia loved spending time with her large family during holidays or special occasions laughing, listening to music, and sharing memorable stories, as one of her pastimes. You could catch her dancing with her siblings to the Bee Gees or her favorite artists. She loved to travel with her sisters to Guatemala and also enjoyed planting flowers, as well as being outside. She was unstoppable prior to getting sick in 2009 with Transverse Myelitis. She wouldn't hesitate to grab a paint brush or a hammer to work around the house. She was also known for her huge heart and kindness. She never forgot anyone and was very giving to all she met. Hortensia was preceded in death by her father, Sixto, her mother, Tomasa, one brother, Ruben, and her grandson Javier. She is survived by her husband Luis Rafael, her three children, Luis (Cristina), Ingrid (Parker), Evelin (Lalo), her brothers and sisters, Olga "Chata", Berta, Gloria, Silvia, Alma, Brenda, Sergio, Armando, Amado, and Rodolfo, and her grandchildren, Ariel, Nacir, Naomi, Naia, Javier, Sebastian, Isabel, Isaiah, David, and Luna. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 23rd, 2021 at Crown Hill at 2:30p with a viewing at 12noon. Flowers can be sent to 700 W 38th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208 or in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke in Bethesda, Maryland.
