Geraldine "G Gia" L. (Greene) Bernard

Geraldine LaKisha “G-Gia” Greene-Bernard was born October 6, 1975. She attended Theodore Roosevelt High School and was enrolled in the Cosmetology program at The Gary Career Center. She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1994, received her Cosmetologist Degree and passed her state board examination as a licensed Cosmetologist. She also attended Vincennes University and graduated in 1996 with an associate’s degree in computer engineering. G-Gia was a woman with many titles, an Entrepreneur, Hair Stylist, Owner and founder of G- Gia’s Hair Salon and D’ Hottest Styles Bar, both located in Indianapolis, IN, Wife, Sister, Cousin, God Mother, Friend, and BOSS. G-Gia franchised and supported so many black owned businesses to include Yike Apparel, TyNiki Lips By: Val, Fa’Don Bella, Anockii Couture, RBJ Transports, Goodfella, and many more. She had an unconditional love for her siblings, God Children, family, Nieces, nephews, clientele, business partners, friends, and traveling with her sister. Her last trip before receiving her Angel Wings, was in Jamaica with her little sister, Tiffany. On Sunday, May 26, 2024, our beloved G-Gia transitioned peacefully with a smile on her face surrounded by her loving family and close friends at St Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. We find solace in knowing that she prepared for this day. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Sarah Jane Vasquez; her mother, Betty Mclin; her father, James Greene; her stepfather, Leon McLin; her brother, Anthony LaShawn Lane, and her sister, Renee McLin. G-Gia is survived by her husband, Alaba Joseph Bernard; 5 sisters, Tiffany (Anthony) Mclin-Broadnax, Latoya McLin, Toya McLin, Lora McLin, Latrice McLin; 4 brothers, Duwon Wright, Phillip Mclin, Shannon Campbell, Shannon Gant; 4 God children, Theodore Bluiett, Zechariah Bateman, Demetri and Eian Rice and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, business partners, and clienteles. Special Nieces, Deeanna Wright and Deeryana Wright. Special uncles, Vernon “Skip” McLin and Frank Lang. Special auntie Brenda (Mark) Swann. A visitation for G Gia will be held Friday, June 7, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Tree of Life Missionary Baptist Church, 2323 W. 11th Street, Gary, IN 46404, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
