IN THE CARE OF
Family Funeral Care-Rockville West
George E. Wildman, Jr.
George passed away peacefully on June 16, 2021, after a long, valiant battle.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George, Sr., and Thelma (Dean) Wildman; his brothers Robert, Donald, and David; and sister Martha Tapp.
He is survived by his wife Sue Dugan; daughters Jamie Dugan and Lydia (James) Manni; son Cliff (Tali); sister Linda Gaskins; and brother Richard. His grandchildren Sophia, Leo, and Dahlia will miss Grandpa mightily.
George was a 1961 graduate of Ben Davis High School. After college, George was one of the first Peace Corps volunteers and served in Chile. He also served in the US Army and was a career civil servant, with a long assignment in Panama. In retirement, George taught English all over the world, from the Czech Republic to China. He had so many stories to tell!
George was a voracious reader, a cutthroat Scrabble and cribbage player, and avid conversationalist. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and community.
An Open House Celebration of Life will be held on 7/17/2021 from 12-6pm at Tarkington Tower. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity close to George’s heart, like the Peace Corp Foundation, the American Kidney Fund, or the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
