Frances L. Clayton

Frances was born on April 21, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Myles Martin Sr. and Margarete (McKinney) Martin that preceded her in death, along with 5 brothers; Edward, Lawrence, Bernard, Myles Jr. and Johnny and two children, Toni Rene and Terry Lynn and a grandson, Marcus Clayton.
She attended IPS School #26 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School. She also attended Indiana Central College.
Frances was married to Garland Rucker and to this union one daughter, Rowena (Wendy) Rucker, Thomas Barnett, and Donnell Clayton, and to this union one son, Martin Clayton, who all (husbands) preceded her in death.
Frances was employed at Western Electric, RCA, CAAP, Xerox, and was a house mother at the Theodore House for Girls from Girl School. She worked at Ford Motor Company as an assembler for 15 years until her retirement. She loved to sing praises to the Lord. She sung in the choir at St. John AME, Coppin Chapel. She traveled and sung with several choirs, The Jordonaires, The Chanticleers, and many solos around Indy and other states. She would sing at funerals around town. Her hobbies were sewing and doing hair. Frances loved spending time with family and friends.
Frances leaves a daughter Rowena Wendy Rucker, two sons, Anthony Neighbors, and Martin Clayton Sr. and a wife Sheila. Grandsons: Benjamin, James, Myles, Martin Jr. and Martez. Grandaughter Gina.
Naima, Onya, Zaqueena, Kristia. 17 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Aunt Emma and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We would like to recognize Frances extended adoptive family - Judy, Toby, Kim, Marvin Overton, and their families. She touched the lives of so many and never met a stranger.
