IN THE CARE OF
Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery
Doris Ostrander Tyler, 86, died on August 1, 2010. She was born June 27, 1924 to Arthur Ostrander and Alwilda Ganse in Woodbury, New Jersey. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware and continued her studies toward a master's degree at Butler University. She was an active mother of three (and a trusted confidant to many of their friends) and has been very active in Girl Scouts and youth counseling.
In addition to her husband of 65 years, R. Donald Tyler, she is survived by three children, Diane Tyler, Dr. Donna Tyler Thompson and David Tyler and four great-grand children: Dr. Sunny Thompson Nelson, Kelsey Thompson Flake, Brittany Thompson Needham and Brian Tyler.
Their home in Speedway was a welcome gathering place for dozens of grateful children and teenagers who knew there were always plenty of snacks and conversation and if asked for, advice.
In 1990 they moved to a home on Eagle Creek where they entertained their growing family of grand children each summer. On Eagle Creek they enjoyed their pontoon boat and appreciated watching deer, squirrels and birds in all seasons. Four years ago they moved to the retirement community of Robin Run.
Viewing will be at Crown Hill Funeral Home between 12:30 and 2:00 PM Wednesday August 4, 2010 followed immediately by a funeral service. There will be a small service at the crypt side for the family and very close friends.
