Obituary of Dale Tyler Harden
Dale Tyler Harden, age 83, of Fishers, Indiana passed away from mesothelioma on May 31, 2024. Dale was born January 23, 1941 in Rushville, Nebraska to parents, John H. Harden and Jane (Tupper) Harden. Dale came of age in California, staying there for some time and earning a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of California at Berkeley and becoming a licensed Professional Engineer. He joined General Electric in their Power Generation division as a field engineer, working in 49 of the 50 states and advancing to senior management during his 32 year career there. Outside his work Dale enjoyed a wide variety of outdoor activities including golf, sailing, pickleball, and cycling to name a few. He was an avid traveler, exploring Europe, the Caribbean, China, and all over the Americas, usually with his wife Suzanne and often with a child or grandchild in tow. He was a friend to many, involved in golf groups at Bay Hill in Orlando, Pelican Isle in Naples, and at Hawthorn's Country Club in Fishers, his beloved bocce ball team, and sailing for the Commodore's Cup in Hinsdale, IL. After retirement he spent much of his days traveling and experiencing life and adventures with his friends, his wife Suzanne, and his children and grandchildren. From swimming with the dolphins in Florida to skiing in Canada, crab hunting in Destin, sailing the Virgin Islands, or even with simple outings biking or boating on the Chicago lakefront, Dale loved shared adventure and experience. His Fourth of July fireworks and bike parades were a family tradition he was especially fond of, and he enjoyed each and every holiday where family and friends were gathered. Dale is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Schaefer) Harden of Fishers, IN and Naples, FL; Children, Jill Fowler (Robert) of Louisville KY, Michael Harden of Louisville, Brian Havener of Fishers, and Heidi Leonard (Sean) of Fishers; grandchildren, Emma, Owen, Lucy, and Jack Leonard, Ella and Gage Fowler, Jaden and Isaac Havener. Dale is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings. His family will have a private celebration of his life on July 4, his favorite holiday. A public celebration will be held at a later date in Naples, Fl.
