Obituary of Betty J. Williams
Betty Jean Ledford Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love and faith. Betty was born on April 17, 1939, in Morefield, Kentucky, to George Ledford and Christine Thompson-Ledford. She attended Carlisle High School, graduating in 1957. Betty's life journey led her to meet and marry James Williams, with whom she shared a daughter, Jennifer Williams (Neely). Betty's faith was central to her life, and she found a spiritual home at Indiana Baptist Church, where she served diligently as an usher and church secretary. Beyond her devotion to her faith, Betty enjoyed various hobbies and interests. She was known for her exceptional baking skills, with her culinary creations described as a taste of heaven by those fortunate enough to enjoy them. She also found excitement in occasional trips to the casinos, accompanied by her granddaughter Keyana, whom she cherished dearly. Betty delighted in lively conversations over the phone, avidly followed basketball games, particularly rooting for the Indiana Pacers, and cherished moments spent with her loved ones. Professionally, Betty worked diligently, retiring from Kroger bakery and later enjoying a part-time role at NIFS as a locker room attendant. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, George Ledford and Christine Ledford; her husband, James Williams; her daughter, Jennifer Williams (Neely); her brother, Billy Ledford; her nephew, Kelvin Ledford; and her sisters, Ruth L. Williams, Geneva Turner, and Juanita Simpson. She is survived by her sister, Alberta McReynolds; her granddaughter, Keyana Jordan; great granddaughter, Londyn Shine; and a host of nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory. Betty Jean Ledford Williams will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, unwavering faith, and zest for life have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones in the presence of the Lord.
