Marvel E. Goodmiller, 82 of Huntington passed away at 12:20 am on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Marvel was a 1951 graduate of Rock Creek High School in Huntington County. She was a 1955 graduate of Manchester College where she earned her bachelor’s degree and a 1967 graduate of St. Francis College where she earned her masters degree. Marvel taught elementary school at Riley, Lincoln and Northwest schools from 1955 – 1992. She was a member of the Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, HCCSC Retired Teachers Association, Huntington County Genealogical Society and of the Historic Forks of the Wabash Parks. She was born on March 14, 1933 in Huntington County, a daughter of Howard L. and Coleen (Carter) McClurg. She was united in marriage to W. Leon Goodmiller on June 6, 1954 at the Markle Church of the Brethren. Her husband preceded her in death on November 25, 2012. Survivors include three daughters: Joan (Roger) Warner of Huntington; Jane (Patrick) Botts of Muncie; Sara (Brian) Weidman of Greenwood; a son: David (Cheryl) Goodmiller of Bluffton; a sister: Janet Wiley of Huntington; 9 grandchildren: Lori Alwine, Kari Peters, Erica Bucholtz, Krista Verba, Benjamin Botts, Rhett Goodmiller, Nolan Weidman, Adam Botts and Lauren Weidman; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother: Bruce McClurg. Visitation will be held on Sunday September 27, 2015 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel located at 2901 Guilford St. Huntington, IN 46750 Funeral service will be held on Monday September 28, 2015 at 10:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel Interment will be at the Lancaster Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made out to Faith Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund in care of Myers Funeral Home.
