Deloris I Miller Smith

Deloris I. Smith, 78 of Huntington passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Parkview Regional Medical Ctr. in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Smith had worked for over 20 years in various positions at the Oak Lanes Bowling Ctr. in Huntington. She was active in Huntington Youth Bowling for over 40 years and was a member of the Huntington County Women’s Bowling Association for over 50 years. She was a 1953 graduate of Bippus High school. She grew up in the Nazarene Church and most recently attended the Evangelical United Methodist Church. Deloris was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan since the age of 9. She also pitched and helped coach softball for many years.
She was born on July 11, 1935 in Bippus a daughter of John F. and Blanche B. (Comer) Miller. She was united in marriage to Jack A. Smith on September 7, 1958 in Huntington. Her husband survives.
Additional survivors include – a daughter: Paula S. ( Kevin) Rice of Roanoke; a grandson: Brenden Rice; two brothers: Merrill Miller and Eldon (Karen) Miller both of Huntington.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Gene Miller and infant twin sisters: Doretta and Darlene Miller.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.
Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Pastor William Rapp officiating.
Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
Memorial donations may be made out to the Huntington County Youth Bowling Association sent in care to Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
