Richard C. Hughes

Richard C. Hughes, age 93, of Schererville, Indiana passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Friday, April 14, 2023. Richard is the loving husband to the late Janet Hughes; beloved father to Lori (John) Kovacich and Leslie (the late Todd) Musgrave and Leslie's companion, Arthur J. Debarge; John R. Kovacich, Dustin and Damon Musgrave; great-grandfather to Natalie, Chloe, Cassidy, Hayden, Damien, Donavan, Damon and Daylen; cherished brother to the late Robert Hughes, the late Ed Hughes, the late LeRoy Hughes, the late John Hughes, the late Edna Siple, the late Ethel Hebblethwaite and the late Evelyn Irwin; uncle to many; loving companion for 21 years to Rosalinda Cortez. Richard honorably served in the United States Army. He was the owner and operator of Woodmar Welding and Fabricating in Hammond, IN and P&H Iron and Supply since 1962. He was a dedicated and faithful member of Southside Christian Church. After his family, his dearest love was his Mooney airplane. His favorite times were flying his airplane to many various places. He was always grateful to visit family across the country at his leisure, or to pick up and have lunch in Wisconsin and come back. Richard will be remembered by his generosity, work ethic, and his loving kindness. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 9:00 am until the time of his funeral at 11:00 am at Kuiper Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
