Richard A. Berdis

Richard A. Berdis, age 82, of Highland, IN passed away Friday, September 27, 2013. He is survived by two daughters: Kerry Berdis of Highland, IN and Kristin Berdis of Munster, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Berdis was preceded in death by his wife, Rose in 2004; daughter, Kathryn Berdis; parents: Frank and Genevieve Berdis; and brother, Eugene Berdis. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Catholic Cemeteries, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at Kuiper Funeral Home. Mr. Berdis was formerly employed with Swift, ECI (Energy Cooperative Incorporated) and was a custodian at Highland High School. Richard was a member of St. James the Less Catholic Church in Highland and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Berdis enjoyed Model Trains, Antique Cars and in recent years riding his Electric Scooter around town.
