Kuiper Funeral Home

Mike Cebra, age 94, of Highland, IN passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022. Mike was born April 18, 1928 in Benld, IL to the late Michael and Suzanna (Socha) Cebra. He leaves behind his very large family: children: Pamela Cebra of Highland, IN, Helen Studer of Genoa, IL, Diane Jackson of Merrillville, IN, Daniel (Billie Jo) of Lowell, IN, Brian Cebra of Porter, IN, Mary (Anthony) Bradshaw of Portage, IN; 14 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren and man's best friend named Daisy, the family dog who he thought of as a person who was able to understand him. Mike is welcomed in to eternity by his beloved Wife, Ella Mae Cebra; son, Michael James Cebra, and two daughters, Betty Marie Cebra and Susan Elaine Cebra. There is so much to be said about Mike. He loved his huge family more than they could possibly imagine. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1951 - 1953 in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. During Highschool, Mike was a Golden Glove Boxer winner in St. Louis, MO., who after winning, realized he did not want to be a boxer. Benld, IL was his hometown and he managed to keep in touch with his bestfriends made in Macoupin County throughout their lives. Other past times he enjoyed were fishing, picking fresh cherries, apples, and peaches in Michigan. After many decades working in the Oil Refinery Industry, Mike was able to retire to Las Vegas, NV, only quickly to realize that he missed his family and relocated to Highland, IN. His family will always remember that he waited until his 90's to discover that he loved Florida. So many years, so much talent, hundreds of memories will live on for the family and friends that Mike leaves behind. A memorial visitation for Mike will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 2PM to 4PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd, Highland, Indiana 46322, followed by a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 4PM and ending with a Military Honors Tribute at 5PM. Rev. Erika D. Brooks will be officiating. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.KuiperFH.com for the Cebra family.
