John A. “Jack” Reiff, Sr., age 84, of Highland, IN passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Valerie Reiff (nee Cotter); five children: Ginger (Robert Carter) Groff, John (Renee) Reiff, Jr., John (Roxann) Hammond, Jennifer (Eddie) Victor and Monica (Paul) Scheppe; nine grandchildren: Jessica Ward, Maria Reiff, Brittany, Kyle and Ellie Pfister, Jasmine Van Ness, John, Brian and Sam Scheppe; four great grandchildren: Adelyn, Olivia, Madison and Hunter; sister, Marilyn (Joseph) Islinger; and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores; two brothers: Harry and Arthur; and three grandchildren: Joseph Groff, Ana Reiff and Nicholas Scheppe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 500 Northgate Dr., Dyer, IN with Rev. Charles Niblick officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 2:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. Additional visitation will be held Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Jack was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Dyer, IN. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from Sears Roebuck with 38 years of service. Jack loved cooking, drawing, painting, fishing and playing games. He was a fun, happy, wonderful man and when asked How are you doing, he would always say fair to middlin’ with a smile on his face. Please visit: www.kuiperfh.com.
