John Anthony Flores

John Anthony Flores, age 35 of Hammond, passed away January 27, 2011. He is survived by his two beautiful daughters: Sarah Elizabeth (7) and Taylor Cassandra (2); mother, Marie Ventimiglia-Oliver; father, John (Penny) Flores; brother, Jeffrey DeArmond; and sister Jennifer (Robert) Ochoa. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews: Blake, Kainen, Makade, Joshua, Jacob, Jared, Emily, Mattea, and Ella; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and dear longtime friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Anthony and Marita Ventimiglia, John and Helen Flores and James and Evelyn Siple; and his faithful companion, Oscar. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 7:30 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd. (two blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, IN, with Rev. Roy T. Beeching, officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family also on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 from 2:00 PM until time of service at 7:30 PM. Private burial to follow services. John was a former Gary Police officer for over 10 years and a member of the S.W.A.T. team. He was also formerly employed at Community Hospital in Munster. Currently he was a reserve officer for the town of New Chicago. John was an avid sports fan, especially the White Sox and Notre Dame. He excelled in every sport he played which included golf, bowling, baseball, softball, football, and wrestling. John was a hard worker and had a zest for life.
