Masa Mae Fukumoto, 89, a resident of Harrisonburg passed away at her home on May 19, 2015.
She was born on January 20, 1926 in Layton, Utah and was the daughter of the late Nobukichi and Mine Isaki.
Mae worked with her husband at Rockingham Poultry and Rockingham Motor Sales. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Sentara-RMH Auxiliary and Women’s Business Club.
Mae loved flowers, traveling, dancing and she enjoyed cooking for the Harrisonburg Lions Club board meeting.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Y. Fukumoto; daughter, Wanda Kurbel (Steve), son, James Matthew Fukumoto (Shelley); grandchildren, John Gibney, III (Jesse), Sarah Gibney, Jennifer Kurbel, Stephen Kurbel, Jr. (Christa), Emily Harlow (Josh), James Russell Fukumoto, and Elizabeth Qaiser (Majid); great-grandchildren, Ellie Mae and John Gibney, IV, Jocelynn, Ella, and Jordan Harlow, James Lee and Victoria Fukumoto, and her beloved Schnauzer, Ichiban.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Dr. Donna Fukumoto.
A memorial service will be held 12:10 pm, Friday, May 22, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Joe Goldsmith officiating.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonburg Lions Club, 1463 Brookhaven Dr., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
