James Edgar Pittington

James Edgar Pittington, 82, of Harrisonburg passed away on November 13, 2024 at Harrisonburg Health and Rehab. Center, where he resided. He was born on September 5, 1942 and was the son of the late Edgar F. and Anna M. Showalter Pittington. James graduated from Harrisonburg High School; he was a proud member of the band and played the bass horn. He began working for his father’s Machine Shop business and continued for his entire working career. In 1973, his father passed away and James along with his mother, Anna, who was the bookkeeper, continued to operate the business. He was a member of the Rockingham Coin Club and he was a toy collector of trucks, farm equipment and trains. James is survived by numerous cousins and friends. According to his wishes, he will be buried at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens alongside his parents and services will be private. Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg is handling arrangements.
