Betty Ann Robinson Long, 82, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Sunnyside Retirement Community.
She was born in Rockingham County on September 1, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Randolph and Grace Lambert Robinson.
Betty was a graduate of Harrisonburg High School and attended Open Door Gospel Church. She was employed by the Hoover Law Firm for 40 years.
On February 29, 1952 she married Galen Long, who preceded her in death on October 12, 2008.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Gayle L. Reid and husband, Bill, of Lyndhurst, Kimberly L. Showalter and husband, David, of Keezletown, and Laura L. Click and husband, Donald, of Bridgewater; one son, Gary M. Long, of Front Royal; two grandchildren, Morgan N. Shirkey and husband, Benjamin, of Harrisonburg, Coleman D. Showalter and girlfriend, Chelsea Harrison, of McLean; three great-grandchildren, Alora, Caden and Miles Shirkey; two sisters, Doris R. Whetzel of Harrisonburg, Linda R. Good and husband, Ronnie, of Harrisonburg; one brother, Roland Robinson and wife, Shirley, of Buena Vista; two sisters-in-law, Louise Stover of Richmond and Jeanne Long of South Carolina; three brothers-in-law, Norman Long and wife, Maxine, of Indiana, Wayland Long and wife, Peggy, of Clover Hill, and Everette Baker of Harrisonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Nancy R. Baker and Kitty L. Pangle; and brothers, Robert E., Lawrence L., and Larry A. Robinson.
The family will receive friends 6-8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 14, at Meredith Chapel at Sunnyside with Chaplain Paul O’Gorek and Rev. Curtis Hensley officiating. Burial will be private.
