IN THE CARE OF
Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park
Thomas Dewey Arney, 79, of Selbyville, Delaware passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 5, 2021 with his wife and family at his bedside.
Thomas was born in Lenoir, North Carolina on September 11, 1941 and later became a resident of Maryland. This is where he met his wife of 35 years to whom he was an extremely loving and devoted husband.
Thomas is predeceased by his parents, Reid and Blanche Arney; brothers, Harold and Joseph; and sister, Rebecca “Jerry” Gray. Tom is survived by his wife, Emma “Jean” Kennedy-Arney; daughter, Christine Boyer; stepchildren, Kevin Mahmot (Lara), Carey Keiser (Ken), and Lori Latona (Mike); nieces; nephews; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thomas was lovingly referred to as “Pop-pop” by his grandchildren, “Uncle Tommy” by nieces and nephews, and “Tom” by friends and family. Tom was an US Army veteran, retired bookbinder of the US Treasury, and a former volunteer firefighter. In his free time, he was an avid hunter, a county fair winner of custom-built birdhouses, dog breeder, and beekeeper.
He was a true Leader of the Pack to his dogs, from Josie his recent pup, to Marcus his companion, to his pack of Beagles, and his pack of English Bulldogs. He was most at peace with a dog at his feet, at his side, on his lap, and recently on his shoulder. He will be dearly missed.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Parklawn Memorial Park's Chapel Mausoleum, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA, 23666.
