Obituary of Rodger Leonard Naeseth
Rodger Naeseth, age 93, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was a resident of Virginia for 67 years. From 1941 to 1946 Rodger proudly served in the Army Air Corp as a repairman. He later relocated to Hampton Roads and retired from NASA Langley as a research scientist in June of 1973. Rodger liked to keep busy and enjoyed repairing typewriters, antique furniture, pianos and cars. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Mr. Naeseth was in ROTC at the University of Minnesota where he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1941. In 1995 he received an award from the Space Technology Hall of Fame for the development of Parawings and Hang Gliders. Rodger was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol and his parents, Carl and Hattie Naeseth. He is survived by his son, James Naeseth. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 pm, Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Rodger's life will be held on Thursday, September 27, at 10:30 am at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel and will be officiated by Rev. Jacob May. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23666.
